The West Course of Royal Melbourne is considered the best course in Australia
#16. Royal Melbourne (West)
Established: 1931
Location: Black Rock, Victoria, Australia
Designed: Alistar MacKenzie
Type: Private
Par: 72
Length: 6,645 yards (6,077 meters)
Regarding playability for the average golfer, this is probably the friendliest course on here. The West Course in Royal Melbourne clocks in at only 6,645 in yards.
Now, that doesn’t mean you will be shooting in the 60’s, but maybe you’ll be able to get a par here and there.
The West Course of Royal Melbourne has been the host of the Australian Open sixteen times.
In 1998, the PGA Tour selected the Royal Melbourne to host the Presidents Cup, which was the first time a course outside the United States hosted the Presidents Cup.
In 2011, the course hosted the Presidents Cup, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it host another Presidents Cup shortly once again.
