National Golf Links of America has been called one of “America’s snootiest golf courses in America.”

#28. National Golf Links of America

The National Golf Links of America may not be a course for you and me, but you have to give it credit for being one of the best and most beautiful courses in the world.

National Golf Links of America is a unique course as it is heavily inspired by links-style golf courses such as St. Andrews, Royal St. George’s, and Prestwick just to name a few.

That was the intention of designer Charles B. Macdonald as he had been heavily inspired by The Old Course at St. Andrews as he went to school at St. Andrews University.

When Macdonald got the opportunity to design his course, the St. Andrews links-style of golf was at the forefront of his mind.

National Golf Links of America hasn’t hosted any major championships, but it has hosted two Walker Cups including as recent as 2013.
