3. Rickie Fowler Responds to “Overrated” Players’ Poll
In an anonymous poll taken by PGA TOUR players earlier this season, it was reveled that Ian Poulter and Rickie Fowler were the most overrated players on TOUR.
Not too surprising to hear Poulter’s names, but it’s a little bit of a shock to hear Fowler. He may have not had a win since the 2012 Wells Fargo Championship, but he was coming off a year where he place top five in all four majors.

Regardless, Fowler heard what the players thought and he responded in tremendous fashion. Not only did Rickie win the PLAYERS Championship, but he dominated one of the hardest closing stretches in all of golf.
Fowler finished his final round on Sunday with four birdies and an eagle in his last six holes for the best finish in PLAYERS Championship history. His solid finish put himself in a three-man playoff with Kevin Kisner and Sergio Garcia.
After eliminating the Spaniard from the playoff, Fowler and Kisner headed back to the 17th where Fowler wrapped things up to win the unofficial fifth major and respond to being called “overrated” in the most dramatic fashion possible. He topped things off with a make out session on 17 with his model girlfriend at the time, Alexis Randock.
In his three trips to the island green on that Sunday, Rickie hit all three of his tee shots within seven feet and birdied it every time. It will be go down as one of the greatest wins at the PLAYERS.
