Dustin Johnson’s prowess at the majors has put him in an enviable position to qualify for Team USA.
His near miss at the U.S. Open was gut-wrenching, but every cloud has its silver lining–that runner-up finish is a big part of Johnson’s current standing in Ryder Cup points. His big win at the WGC-Cadillac Championship also provided a huge boost. With 2,535 points, Johnson is well within striking distance of the 2014 threshold and could have his spot virtually locked up by the Masters.
A prototypical big-stage performer, Johnson should contend in at least one major in 2016–he’s notched a top 10 in at least one of the big four in every season since 2009. The Coastal Carolina product should be in line to see his first Ryder Cup action since 2012.
