Shane Lowry took major strides last year as a premier golfer around the world.
Shane Lowry didn’t miss a cut on strictly European Tour sanctioned events.
Lowry was 10-for-10 in those events as Lowry finished inside the top eleven in four of those tournaments, including a T-2 finish at the British Masters.
Lowry finished T-9 at the U.S. Open and his highlight came two months later as he broke through with a win at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
The downside to Lowry’s year was that aside from that top ten finish at the U.S. Open, he missed the cut at the three other majors.
I have no doubt that Lowry will be in contention week in and week out on the European Tour. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him notch a win or two.
What to watch for from Lowry is if he continues to round into one of the elite golfers around the world. A win at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational in 2015 went a long way.
Let’s see if Lowry can approve upon that as we head into 2016. Will Lowry play better at the majors in 2016? That’s something to keep an eye on as the year progresses.
