Bernd Wiesberger has the kind of game and upside to win some major events, will 2016 be his breakthrough year?

Bernd Wiesberger was on the verge of breaking out last year, but came up short in taking that next step.

Well, to be clear, Wiesberger did take a number of strides at becoming a premier world tour player, but he came up short of actually breaking out and being a consistent star on the world level.

Wiesberger did show, however, that he is one of the better European Tour golfers right now. Wiesberger started off hot finishing T-6, 3rd, T-4, and 2nd to start the year.

In July, Wiesberger showed the upside he brings to the table by winning the Alstom Open de France.

Wiesberger hits it high and far, the type of game that will perform well at majors consistently.

In 2015, he had a spotty record at the majors. Wiesberger finished T-22 at The Masters, but he missed the cut at the U.S. Open and the PGA Championship. His finish at The Open Championship wasn’t any better as he finished T-68.

That’s something Wiesberger will look to improve upon, and we’ll see if he does. Wiesberger has the game and all the potential to be a breakout star, 2016 might be the year he finally puts it all together.
