Sei Young Kim is headed for the top of the world rankings. Can she get there in 2016?

With 11 top-10 finishes in 2015, three of them victories and one of those – the LOTTE Championship – a playoff win against Inbee Park, Sei Young Kim has already staked out her contender claim. The 2015 LPGA Rookie of the Year will be starting her sophomore year on the Tour ranked 7th in the world by Rolex.

Is it that 3rd degree black belt in Taekwondo that has helped the diminutive Kim become one of the most powerful ball strikers in women’s golf?  She gets into trouble occasionally off the tee but, as we saw in 2015, she also just as easily gets herself back into position.

What’s next for Kim? I say there’s going to be more of the same in 2016 for this golfers who, like In Gee Chun, just doesn’t stop smiling.  She came to the big stage with solid competitive experience on the KLPGA, where there’s certainly no shortage of competition, and she’s demonstrated that she’s up to the task. Now I’m going to sit back and watch Kim deliver a game that’s going to move her right on up in the rankings.
