Gabby Lopez is coming into her rookie year on the LPGA Tour very well prepared for what lies ahead by two of the game’s best players, Lorena Ochoa and Stacy Lewis. Who could ask for better mentors?
Lopez has had four years of seasoning on the Arkansas Razorback golf team. She’s played each year in the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship on a sponsor invite and she’s done the same at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational. She knows what the stress feels like and she’s been stocking her tool box with all the right equipment. It helps that she’s a fine athlete.
Look for Lopez, who finished in a tie for 10th at Q School this month, to play the weekend more times than not this year. She understands how to play the game one shot at a time and how to keep her big goals in check. She’s the kind of player who knows how to grind it out and then grab the opportunities when they present themselves
