In Gee Chun caught most American fans by surprise when she won the 2015 US Women’s Open, but those who had a deeper familiarity with KLPGA players simply smiled and nodded.

Chun elected not to accept immediate playing status on the LPGA, as that victory would have allowed. She had tournament and sponsor commitments to fulfill and she was mid-year in her university program. Chun became the Tour’s first member of the 2016 rookie class.
I’m looking forward to watching this young women who never stopped smiling as she played her way past Morgan Pressel and Amy Yang and Inbee Park and Stacy Lewis last summer transition to a regular Tour member.
My crystal ball sees at least one win and multiple top-10 finishes in Chun’s 2015 future, and much more beyond.
