Matt Fitzpatrick has the game in his bag to contend. Ignore that missed cut at Qatar.

I know Matt Fitzpatrick missed the cut last week at the Qatar Masters, but so did Jason Day, Rickie Fowler and Phil Mickelson at the Farmers Insurance Open, so I’d say he’s in fairly solid company in that regard.  The young Englishman also missed the cut last year at the 2015 Dubai Desert Classic, but his game is in a very different position now. He’s been tested against the top players on the European Tour. Fitzpatrick finished inside the top-5 at the DP World Tour Championship last November, where there was no shortage of championship-level competition and I take that performance more than his weak play last week as the indicator of his potential. Fitzpatrick knows the Emirates Golf Club track and I think he’s ready to use that knowledge to good advantage.]
