The absence of profanity will offend no one.

I know that Tiger Woods does it in English and Suzann Pettersen does it in Norwegian but really, people, golf is a gentle sport and profanity is both undignified and offensive. Control your tongue. This falls under the Courtesy Category.

I understand that golf can be a frustrating and infuriating game and I know from personal experience that a “Golly, gee whillikers, you pesky little ball!” isn’t always going to expunge the negative energy.

For some of us a good, solid expletive is just plain cathartic. You may be one of those people, but you may be playing with others who are not.

If you must, please use sotto voce.
