Don’t overlook socks – they do more than you think.

I’ve recommended Legend Compression socks before and I’ll probably recommend them again because I think they’re one of the great but little-known miracles for golfers who struggle, as I do, with diabetic neuropathy.

If you’re living with neuropathy then you know that it comes and goes without much rhyme or reason but when it’s raging every step hurts and standing on the green waiting for everybody in your foursome to putt out can involve some genuine agony. To my utter joy, these compression socks minimize my symptoms during my round, and they sustain the relief I’ve experienced for many hours after I’ve finished playing golf.

These socks deliver on every promise in Legend’s promotional material.  The sizes are uni-sexed. I wear a small and the medium nicely fits my son Wes, who’s a long, lean athletic type of guy. We both favor the yellow but I’m getting ready to make a move on the pink!

As a general rule I’m not a fan of synthetic fabric when it comes to socks, but my current personal favorite for golf socks is a low-cut footie from UnderArmour. They wick well, hold their shape and come in a huge array of colors!

Who could ask for more? For the less adventuresome the model also comes in white (with a snazzy colored U-A logo) and an array of neutral shades.

For guys, Under-Armour makes some low-cut heat gear socks that Wes tells me are quite good, and he’s fairly picky about his socks. The colors are more subdued too.

Price Tag: $19.98 for a 6-pack for the women’s low-cut; $14.99 for a 3-pack for the men’s low-cut
