If you’ve not discovered Edisto Island this might be a good time to take a little side trip between Charleston and Hilton Head Island. Edisto Island seems to operate on an independent time zone. It’s called Edislow Time by the locals and Edisto aficionados. The Plantation Course operates on Edislow Time.

There are lagoons, canals, island greens, waste areas, and alligators. Golf is very relaxed. I always enjoy my rounds at The Plantation, which has a bit of a muni feel to it. That probably comes from the fact that it was the product of local dreams and vision and the original “designers” knew next to nothing about golf course design when they set out to build a golf course 40 years ago.

Still, as a place to kick back and enjoy a round of golf, The Plantation Course can’t be beat and there are enough ghosts swirling in the Edisto ether to keep your round interesting.

Stop in for a pre-round breakfast or a late lunch at the Sea Cow on Jungle Road. You’ll thank me for this one too!
