The power rankings for the Hero Indian Open start with defending champ Anirban Lahiri.

The 28th edition of Hero Indian Open, India’s oldest golf tournament, will be contended this week at the Delhi Golf Club. Tri-sanctioned by the Indian Golf Union, the Asian and European Tours, the Open carries a purse of US$1.66 millions.

With defending champion Anirban Lahiri, golf’s Indian superstar and certainly one of the top home favorites, and international champion Padraig Harrington headlining the field , the Hero Indian Open promises to deliver some classy golf.

A part of that class could come from one of the wild cards in this week’s power rankings: The Tiger Woods of Bengal, a former Tiger Woods practice partner, and a young Irishman who’s on the hunt for his maiden pro win and destined for golf greatness are all going to figure in how the top of the leaderboard configures this week.

Let’s take a closer look at the top of the field, at the players most likely to end Sunday with a good piece of the purse and perhaps some new hardware.
