Paul McGinley                 Born 1996, Dublin

Paul McGinley turned pro in 1991 and has secured 9 professional victories, beginning with the 1996 Hohe Brücke Open.

Historically known as a Ryder cup stalwart, McGinley has long been considered a major figure in Irish golf and is remembered for holing that ten foot put that defeated Jim Furyk in the 2002 Ryder Cup at the Belfry to secure the win for Europe. That was McGinley’s first of three successful appearances at the event.

McGinley also captained the 2014 European team to a win over the Americans and is the first Irishman to captain the Ryder cup team in history.

Before making his name in the golf McGinley tried his talents at Gaelic football and also credits that experience as a reason for his passion for the game and an instrumental part to his appointment as Ryder Cup Captain in 2014.  McGinley says much of his success in sports can be attributed to his family lineage in Gaelic football, as his father played for the football club Donegal.
