Christy O’Connor Snr.    Born 1924, Knocknacarra, Galway

Christy O’Connor Snr. turned pro in 1946 and enjoyed a long and successful career that continued into the 1970s. O’Connor’s first win came in 1955 with the Swallow-Penfold Tournament and his 17 subsequent victories included the British Masters. O’Connor played for the European team on 10 Ryder Cups and then “retired” to the senior tour, notching six PGA Senior Championships.

O’Connor was inducted under the Veterans category in the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2009, a rightful addition to the illustrious club.
