Christy O’Connor Jnr: 1948-2016    Born County Galway

Christy O’Connor Jnr, the nephew of Christy O’Connor Snr, turned pro in 1967 and ranked among the top 100 on the European Tour’s Order of Merit for 21 seasons.

O’Connor Jnr held 4 European Tour championships – his last came in 1992 at the Dunhill British Masters when O’Connor was 44 – and and played for the European team twice at the Ryder Cup (1975, 1989). He went on to compete on the European Seniors Tour and the US-based Champions Tour where he won a total of 4 more times.  

O’Connor’s spirit lives on in the 18 golf courses he designed in Ireland.
