WGC-Dell Match Play: Tips for Your Brackets for the Top-5 Groups
By Sam Belden
Group 4: Bubba Watson, J.B. Holmes, Emiliano Grillo, Patton Kizzire
Sparks will fly when Watson and Holmes face off. Both rank among the PGA Tour’s top five in driving distance, and watching them attempt to outdo each other should make for some riveting action. Highly successful partners at the Presidents Cup last fall, Watson and Holmes are both proud Southerners and good friends, so look for this to be among the most compelling match-ups of the week.
This event will also be Watson’s final tune-up before the Masters, where he’ll try for his third green jacket. He’s been in major-winning form to start the season, but fans should watch closely to see if it’s carried over to Austin Country Club. Don’t count him out if it doesn’t – just consider this week a kind of final progress report.
The other two members of this group are former Web.com Tour standouts who have seen a ton of success during their first PGA Tour season. Grillo won the season-opening Frys.com Open last fall and has maintained a solid level of play, while Kizzire has reeled off three top 10s. If either one advances to the knockout stage, it will be one of the week’s feel-good stories.
