Dell Match Play Sweet 16 Predictions
Patrick Reed gets better when the going gets tough. He’ll take this one.
Patrick Reed loves match play and it shows. Dustin Johnson wants a win and it shows. Johnson’s going to be disappointed.
By the numbers Reed and Johnson are very evenly matched and a head-to-head match will test everything they both have in their bag. He edged out Daniel Berger in the first round of group play, came back with a 4 and 3 knockout punch against Matt Fitzpatrick and then crushed Phil Mickelson 5 and 4. His blood’s up.
Johnson outplayed Robert Streb (3 and 2) and then soundly defeated Kiradech Aphibarnrat 5 and 4 and then dispatched Jimmy Walker 2 and 1. So both Reed and Johnson are coming into their Sweet 16 match undefeated but there’s a huge difference between how Reed and Johnson handle the pressure of competition.
The stress of the moment seems to energize Patrick Reed and it seems to be Dustin Johnson’s undoing.
