2016 Masters Tournament: Amateurs in the Field
Derek Bard may have a score to settle this week.
Derek Bard got his 2016 Masters invite with his runner-up finish at the 2015 US Amateur Championship. Although Bryson DeChambeau recorded a decisive, near close-out victory over Bard in the final match, Bard delivered some impressive golf at Olympia Fields Country Club to get himself into the finals.
It was in his quarter-final match against Jon Rahm, the number 1-ranked amateur in the world, that Bard bared his teeth. Moving on to his semi-final match against Kenta Konishi (Japan), the University of Virginia junior scrapped his way to the win.
If Derek Bard wants to settle the score with Bryson DeChambeau there couldn’t be a better place to do it than Augusta National. That could be one of several matches within the tournament this week.
