2016 Masters Tournament: Amateurs in the Field
Paul Chaplet is just starting to build his amateur resume!
Costa Rican Paul Chaplet earned his tee time at the 2016 Masters with his victory at the Latin America Amateur Championship.
The 16-year old, who made short work of the competition, has been playing golf since he was 10. Do the math. He’s been developing his game for six years!
"“I wasn’t expecting to win. I was expecting to shoot under par, which is my main goal, so that was accomplished. And with that came the win, so I can’t really ask for much more.” – Paul Chaplet"
Chaplet will be the 2nd youngest player ever to tee it up at the Masters and he will also be the 1st Costa Rican to compete at Augusta National. The high school senior hopes to play collegiate golf in the United States. He’s been talking to San Diego State, Arizona, Minnesota, and Sam Houston State. He’ll probably have his pick.
