2 of the 7 amateurs in the ANA Inspiration field have made the cut. Let’s take a closer look at them.

The ANA Inspiration sparks endless hopes and dreams. Some players have their eyes on the top of the leaderboard and they’re playing the early rounds to put themselves in the best position to make a charge for the win on Sunday.

Certainly Lexi Thompson is having some thoughts like that as I write. She and Ai Miyazato, twice winner of the Evian, are sleeping on their shared 2nd round overnight lead.

But there are some big names right below them on the leaderboard – In Gee Chun, Suzann Pettersen, Michelle Wie, Ha Na Jane – who are also in a position to be thinking about their Sunday possibilities, even as they rein themselves in and get ready to play their Saturday rounds one shot at a time.

Others have more modest dreams – a high finish, better than last year, surviving the cut. Five of the seven amateurs in the ANA Inspiration field this week ended their 2016 ANA Inspiration today, but two – Hannah O’Sullivan and Albane Valenzuela – will play on through the weekend.

Let’s check in on this group of promising young athletes.
