12th hole (Golden Bell) – Iconic . . . the best visual at Augusta National.

Par 3: 155 yards

Rank: 2

Virtual Flyover:

Many say the 12th hole at Augusta National is the greatest par 3 in the world. It is right in the heart of “Amen Corner” where the wind swirls and players try so hard to figure out what club to take. Many players will tell you on this hole, you should just aim at the center of the green no matter where the flag is. Take your 4 two putt pars and get out.

It’s usually either of wedge or a 9-iron on this hole. Obviously you don’t want to miss short in the water, because you are going to have a tougher third shot than your initial tee shot. The back bunker can be tricky as well. There isn’t a lot of green to work with and it’s difficult to get much spin on the ball. You will see players occasionally have to play out sideways if they draw a poor lie.

If there is a better wallpaper than the view on this hole, I don’t know what it is. It’s full of history and stunning in every sense of the word. The players often say they get goosebumps as they walk across the Hogan Bridge to the green, because of all the great players who walked it before them. The 12th is golf history at it’s finest.
