1st hole (Tea olive) – Will the wind be helping?

Par 4: 445 yards

Rank: 16

Virtual Flyover:

The opening hole is another very difficult hole. Sometimes I wonder how much of it is the fact that it’s the first hole however. In the biggest tournament of the year, nerves can run high. You won’t feel any more nerves than the eerie silence you face on this opening tee shot.

The proper play depends on the wind. If the wind is helping then you should take out the driver, as you can fly the bunker on the right. Most of the time, the proper play is the 3-wood to stay short of the bunkers and then that still just leaves you a 7-iron into the 1st green.

The only place you don’t want to miss the green for the most part is right, as there is a steep fall off. There is also bunker front left, but it doesn’t really get much action.

Other than the fact that this is the first hole, there really isn’t too much that is special about the hole. At the same time, you just are just looking to put it on the green and get to the par 5 2nd to really get your round started.
