Round 1 – 73   Round 2 – 71  Leaderboard Status – T20

Smylie Kaufman is enjoying a very solid Masters debut. The double rookie – Kaufman’s also playing his PGA TOUR rookie year – is holding his own with the big dogs this week.

The LSU product started his rookie year with a top-10 finish at the Fry.com Open and followed that debut with a win at the Shriners Hospital for Children Open last October. Is it a pattern? A debut top-10 followed by a win? If so, he needs to play some fancy golf this weekend because he needs to climb over some experienced Masters competitors who know what the weekend will demand at Augusta National.

Kaufman’s just inside the top 50 in the OWGR and 9th in the FedEx Cup rankings. A high finish this week will nudge him up a bit more in both rankings.
