Masters Debutantes – 8 Rookies Who Made the Cut

Emiliano Grillo is a 2015-16 PGA TOUR rookie on the move. The Argentine notched his first Tour victory at the Frys.com Open last October, which was also his first start as a TOUR member!
That win was a cliffhanger. Grillo beat Kevin Na in a playoff that started when Grillo made a spectacular 25-foot birdie putt on the 72nd hole. Grillo then missed a three-foot putt for victory on the first playoff hole, but won on the second with birdie after Na ended up behind a tree and could only make bogey.
That win punched Grillo’s ticket to the Masters and the 2016 PGA Championship and moved him up to 39th in the OWGR. With a current 20th in the FedEx Cup rankings, Grillo is having a fine rookie year.
He brings a solid long game to Augusta National; and despite a nasty double on the 16th the Argentine has been working his flat stick much more skillfully than his overall player stats would predict, although Grillo found himself in that rather large group of players who stubbed their golf toes on the back nine today.
