Round 1 – 74   Round 2 – 73   Leaderboard Status – T33

Frenchman Romain Langasque got his ticket to the 2016 Masters punched when he won the 2015 British Amateur Championship. He’s one of two amateurs to make the cut this year.

Langasque has struggled to get his pro golf career launched and finding him playing the weekend is a bit of a surprise. In November he fell short of advancing to the final stage of the European Tour Q-School by eight shots. However, the Frenchman retained his amateur status and his eligibility to play in the Masters.

In February 2016 Langasque competed in the Jones Cup Invitational at Ocean Forest Golf Club in Sea Island, GA where he finished T25 at +16.  Perhaps he’s been inspired by the ambience at Augusta National, or perhaps he’s just enjoying some of that good fortune the golf gods sprinkle occasionally on all of us.

Whatever the source, Langasque has delivered a remarkably consistent and disaster-free game for 36 holes of golf and he’s earned the right to play on.
