Jim Furyk won the RBC Heritage last year, but injury has sidelined him from a title defense. Who will claim the tartan jacket this week?

RBC Heritage now comes into focus. The Masters is arguably the most important event in the sport of golf, but with all the fanfare, high-pressure shots and satellite festivities throughout the week, it can get a little exhausting. For that reason, there’s a lot to look forward to about this week’s RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links, which has been played the week directly following the Masters for years now.

That’s not to say that this week’s event isn’t an important one. One of the PGA Tour’s five invitational tournaments (a list that doesn’t include the majors or WGCs), the Heritage has a smaller field, a bigger purse and a higher level of prestige than most other events. The winner even gets to slip into a tartan jacket. Most golfers would rather have a green one, it’s still a nice prize that serves as a kind of afterglow of the year’s first major.

Harbour Town is decidedly a shotmaker’s course. Short and tricky, it requires good iron play and a strong short game while putting less emphasis on length than most other PGA Tour courses. It’s common that a shorter hitter will emerge from the pack–Jim Furyk did it a year ago, snapping a win drought of nearly five years.

Without further ado, let’s go ten deep. Here are this week’s best bets for success at the RBC Heritage.
