My LOTTE Championship power rankings reach beyond the obvious.

The LOTTE Championship takes the Tour this week to the beautiful Ko Olina Golf Club in Kapolei. Who can forget last year and the battle between Sei Young Kim, who was on her way to Rookie of the Year, and Inbee Park?

First Kim forced a playoff with an extrordinary chip-in on the 72nd hole. Then Kim took the victory when, using an 8 iron, she holed out from 154 yards on the second playoff hole. Park, standing on the fairway waiting to take her approach shot to the green, just shook her head.

Here they are again, those two amazing shots:

The LOTTE is the 7th event in the Tour’s season and while Tony’s LPGA Report rates the strength of the field a bit low, four of the five 2016 champions are in the field: Hyo Joo Kim, Lydia Ko, Haru Nomura, and Lexi Thompson. The top 10 in the Rolex Rankings are well-represented (with Stacy Lewis and Ha Na Jang taking the week off).

But looking beyond the top of the Rolex Rankings. There’s a strong field of solid players teeing it up this week at Ko Olina.

Here’s how I see things shaping up.
