The Shenzhen Open, co-hosted by the European Tour and the China Golf Association, boasts a field with enormous promise.

Bubba Watson is returning to Shenzhen for another try and Chinese sensation Li Hao Tong, who lost in a play-off to Thailand’s Kiradech Aphibarnrat last year, will also be back for another run at the win. Miguel Angel Jiménez will be making his Shenzhen Open debut and Aphibarnrat, who showed very solid form at The Masters, will be back to defend his title.

Despite China’s problematic official position on the sport, Shenzhen – designated a UNESCO Creative City – has been making elaborate preparations to ensure that Chinese golf fans have every opportunity to enjoy the tournament and become more knowledgable about golf etiquette and the true spirit of the game.

The Shenzhen Genzon Golf Club is laid out in a gorgeous setting, the CITIC Botanical Garden. The par 72, 7145 yard (6534 meter) track takes full advantage of Dragon Lake and the undulating terrain to create a venue that will challenge the field. The spring weather in the Pearl River Delta should be just about perfect for golf with daytime temperatures ranging in the high 70s-low 80s, although players and fans alike should pack their rain gear.

Let’s take a look at the 10 players in the Shenzhen Open field who seem most likely to challenge the top of the board this week.
