It’s time for our Mauritius Open Power Rankings as the event returns for the second time on the European Tour.

The Mauritius Open is the only event in the world which is co-sanctioned by three Tours. The European Tour is a truly international organisation. It hosts and co-hosts tournaments in all four corners of the world but this week is special. Both the Asian and Sunshine Tours are sharing the duties with the European Tour as the second edition of the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open moves to the Four Seasons Golf Club at Anahita.

The Ernie Els designed course is a bit of a monster at 7,500 yards off the championship tees. Going low at Anahita is going to require giving the ball a real wallop more often than not but that should not be too much of a problem given the course’s wide fairways.

As well as being a test of distance, Four Seasons GC is also going to be a test of concentration. The European Tour’s website describes it as being “set against lush mountains and fringed by crystal-clear lagoons” and it is certainly one of the most beautiful settings for a golf course. The par-72 layout gives a real sense of building to a crescendo as it ends with six holes set by the Indian Ocean. The most dramatic shot is left until the final hole with one of the most stunning approach shots in all of golf.

This is a tournament that players from Europe, Asia, Africa and beyond all want to win. It’s got a healthy prize purse, a growing reputation and a competitive field so let’s have a look at the 10 players who are best placed to have a crack at the title come Sunday.
