Rickie Fowler claimed a dramatic victory at last year’s PLAYERS Championship. Who will win the PGA TOUR‘s flagship event this time around?

PLAYERS Championship is often referred to as golf’s fifth major. There’s no question it’s one of the most exciting weeks on the PGA TOUR. Why?

Among other reasons – the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass is correctly regarded as one of golf’s most singularly thrilling designs and the field is chock full of the world’s top players. You won’t find many pros who would put the PLAYERS on the same level as the big four, but it’s more than enough to tide golf fans over until the U.S. Open.

If you’ve ever watched the PLAYERS, you know the Stadium Course is one of the most treacherous tracks out there. At 7,215 yards, it isn’t the longest course in the world, but it requires deadly accurate iron play and a complete short game in order to navigate. In a less tangible sense, it demands a certain amount of grace under pressure – scores of players have seen their chances of winning the tournament dashed on the 17th hole while trying to hit the island green, like Sergio Garcia back in 2013.

One thing is for sure – it won’t be easy to rise to the top of this week’s field. Every one of the world’s top 20 players will be in Ponte Vedra Beach for the PGA TOUR’s flagship event – there’s little wonder why the winner receives 80 world ranking points, the most of any tournament aside from the majors.

Without further ado, let’s go ten deep. Here are this week’s best bets for success at the PLAYERS Championship.
