Ryder Cup: Early 2016 Team USA Candidates
By Steve Gamrat
Although final Ryder Cup Team USA selections are still 12 weeks in the future, let’s take a look at the early frontrunners.
The Ryder Cup is back in the States this year, at Hazeltine National Golf Club, in Chaska Minnesota. This is a super fun event because it’s golfs own personalized Olympics. Luckily, we get a double dip with golf returning to the Olympic venue at Rio. But the Ryder Cup is the event that will rivet our national golf pride and passion like no other can.
While the Ryder Cup is still four months away the oddsmakers are already busy. The early surprise favorites to win the Ryder Cup are the US Team sitting at 10/11:1. The US hasn’t won since 2008 and has work to do given Europe’s full field of greats, headlined by Rory McIlroy.
With that said the US has so much going in their favor! First they have home field advantage which is huge in a tournament like this. Also, they have their fair share of studs merging into their prime including Jordan Speith & Rickie Fowler.
With that said, here are the early top candidates for the 2016 Ryder Cup US Team. Final selection of the top 8 of the 12 members of the US Team will be named on points earned following the conclusion of The Barclays, which is scheduled to conclude Sunday Aug. 28, 2016.
