OWGR: Ranking Every World No. 1 in History
10. Jason Day
Time at the top: 19 weeks (current No. 1 as of July 3, 2016)
It’s time to break out the crystal ball — three of the next seven golfers on the list have decades of golf ahead of them, barring injury. Jason Day is one of today’s young, or at least relatively young, golfers who are trending towards being in the discussion of the game’s all-time greats. The once raw talent has parlayed a ridiculous hot streak into 19 weeks at the top, including 15 consecutive and counting as of July 3, 2016.
Day, 28, got the major championship monkey off his back by winning the 2015 PGA Championship. This was one of his seven PGA Tour wins that came in a 15-month span between 2015 and 2016.
Day has admitted he may be done with the game around the age of 40. This could hamper his chances to spend as much time at the top as other great players, but even just 12 more years at his pace could keep him there for many weeks to come.
