4. “The King” got his first win at the Canadian Open, but the “Golden Bear” never prevailed.

In 1955, one of golf’s first superstars earned his first PGA Tour win at the Canadian Open, where he pocketed $2,400 for his efforts. Arnold Palmer won by a margin of four strokes over Jack Burke Jr., and the PGA Tour rookie quickly springboarded to stardom from there.

On the other side of things, Jack Nicklaus went winless in more than 20 trips to the event. That’s kind of hard to believe for a man who earned 116 professional wins in his career. It’s not like Nicklaus didn’t play well in Canada, as he finished runner-up seven different times.
