TaylorMade Signs Beau Hossler to Multi-Year Deal
By Sam Belden
In a deal that could pay major dividends down the line, TaylorMade has signed Beau Hossler to an equipment deal.
One of the biggest prospects in golf has signed his first major equipment deal. Beau Hossler, the former Texas Longhorn who spent significant time in the top five of the World Amateur Golf Ranking, has signed with TaylorMade, adding to the Adidas-owned brand’s already deep roster of stars.
According to PGATour.com, the deal will run for multiple years. Hossler will keep TaylorMade woods, irons and balls in his bag and will wear Adidas apparel and footwear.
Hossler, 21, is perhaps best known for holding a share of the lead during the second round of the 2012 U.S. Open at the Olympic Club. He faded to a tie for ninth by the end of Friday and wound up finishing in a tie for 29th for the championship — not bad for a 17-year-old.
He hasn’t slowed down since that productive week in San Francisco. Hossler won five collegiate events during the 2015-16 season, passing or matching names like Ben Crenshaw, Justin Leonard, Tom Kite and Jordan Spieth — all major champions — for most wins by a Longhorn in a single season. He shot a career-low 64 on two occasions during the campaign.
Hossler’s decision wasn’t an unexpected one. The California native has played TaylorMade for years now, starting with them before even enrolling at Texas.
This is just the latest addition to an outstanding stable of young talent over at TaylorMade. Recent signees Hossler, Jon Rahm, Jordan Niebrugge, Romain Langasque and Jonathan Garrick all appear to have the talent to hang around on the PGA Tour for years down the line.
TaylorMade also sponsors Jason Day and Dustin Johnson, the top two players in the Official World Golf Ranking, so the 37-year-old company has received a lot of airtime in recent months. Getting Hossler on the team assures that TaylorMade will be well-positioned to continue outfitting the best players in the world.
Hossler is currently sidelined due to a shoulder injury suffered at the NCAA Championship, but he plans on returning later this year. When he does, keep an eye out for his fresh set of TaylorMade clubs.
