Defending champion Bubba Watson will try for his 10th PGA Tour win at this week’s Travelers Championship.

The PGA Tour makes one of its annual New England stops this week: the Travelers Championship. This event has been staged at TPC River Highlands (recently renovated for this year) since 1984 and has crowned a number of quality champions, including Phil Mickelson, Nick Price and Bubba Watson.

After a hectic six-week stretch of seemingly non-stop major golf, PGA Tour members can finally breathe a collective sigh of relief. The reintroduction of golf to the Olympic Games necessitated significant schedule changes, and this year’s major season really did feel significantly shorter than usual.

Inevitably, those schedule changes displaced a number of non-major tournaments. The Travelers Championship is usually staged in June, right after the U.S. Open, but it got the short end of the stick this year. To some extent, this tournament has become lost in the shuffle of the majors, Olympics and FedEx Cup. Many top stars are taking the week off.

Even so, it should be a compelling week of golf, and there will be a contingent of elite players in attendance. Without further ado, let’s go ten deep. Here are the best bets for success at the Travelers Championship.
