The John Deere Classic isn’t the biggest draw on the PGA Tour, but we’ll still see plenty of familiar faces this week.

The John Deere Classic just can’t catch a break. Normally held the week before The Open Championship, the tournament has historically struggled to attract marquee names — most PGA Tour members want more than three days to adjust to the new time zone.

You might think that the Deere’s slot on the 2016 schedule would lead to a better field, but it just wasn’t to be. Many top players will be competing in the Olympics; others are still recovering from the congested major season and saving their energy for the FedEx Cup playoffs. Either way, we won’t see a single top 10 player at TPC Deere Run this week.

Nevertheless, we should be in for a week of compelling golf. The folks at John Deere always put on a first-rate tournament, and they’ve crowned some quality champions in the last five years, including Steve Stricker, Zach Johnson and Jordan Spieth.

Will we see another big-time player rise to the top of a weak field at the John Deere Classic? Without further ado, let’s take a look at the early frontrunners. Here are the best bets for success this week.
