Vijay Singh

Still a regular feature and stern competitor on the main tour, Vijay Singh has yet to really hit the jackpot on the Champions Tour. Having only played a handful of events in the last four seasons since turning 50, the Fijian is yet to pick up his first win.

An opening round 66 put him in excellent position to change that this week, but a second round 75 saw him undo the bulk of the impressive work he had put in on Thursday.

Singh, a former world no.1, with 60 professional wins and three majors on the main tour to his name, will certainly have no problem in closing out victory if the opportunity presents itself.

The question is more whether Singh’s game is where it needs to be in order to deliver such a result. Or perhaps, even more pressing is his mental state. Singh has spoken of his discomfort on the Champions Tour due to his lack of familiarity with the courses, still if he can get the feel of Scioto, he has what it takes to go low.
