Shane Lowry

Another European who is playing the Wyndham this week with Ryder Cup hopes at the forefront of his mind is Shane Lowry. He’s not coming to Sedgefield in good form, but he’s coming with a relentless determination to make his mark.

Having struggled with his game since falling away in heartbreaking fashion in the final round of the US Open, Lowry has turned his schedule upside down in an attempt to make the European team.

He has failed to make a cut in the three events he has played since finishing tied for 36th at the Bridgestone Invitational in early July, but as his win in that event showed last year, he’s got the skill to go out there and win. He’ll be something of a gamble, but this week Lowry might simply will his way into contention.
