For the US Ryder Cup team, almost two years of intense build-up is very soon going to come down to just three days of golf.

On the other hand, for team captain Davis Love III, the buildup has likely gone on much longer. Love has been itching for the opportunity to turn the tide ever since he captained the Americans to a loss in 2012, and this week at Hazeltine he’ll finally get that chance.

As a result, it’s more important than ever for Love to get the simple things right. All the planning and preparation will be in vein, if the 52-year-old fails to put the right players together.
