Honorable Mentions

A few under-the-radar players who could break out

I’d be remiss to proclaim such a deep rookie class and then name only five players. Here are a few other names capable of cashing big checks in 2016-17.

  • J.J. Spaun: The 26-year-old Californian was a mainstay on Web.com Tour leaderboards in 2016, winning once and placing runner-up twice among seven total top 10s. He missed just six regular season cuts and has steadily progressed since his recent stint on the Mackenzie Tour.
  • Trey Mullinax: Mullinax was a member of the vaunted Alabama golf team that won NCAA championships in 2013 and 2014, partially thanks to his All-American caliber performance. He played nicely on the Web.com Tour in 2015 but narrowly missed out on his card. He could be one of the PGA Tour’s next young guns now that he’s broken through.
  • Richy Werenski: The 25-year-old former “Big Break: The Palm Beaches” winner from 2015 has earned his own break onto the PGA Tour, mostly thanks to a win and three runner-up finishes on the Web.com Tour in 2016.
