PGA Tour Power Rankings: CIMB Classic
By Sam Belden
Ryan Moore has notched two career wins at the CIMB Classic, the second event of the new PGA Tour season. Can he make it three times in four years in Malaysia?
The 2016-17 PGA Tour season is less than two weeks old, but we’ve already arrived at the first reduced field event on the schedule. The CIMB Classic, held at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club since 2013, makes its return this week, playing host to 78 players from across the PGA and Asian Tours.
There’s no cut this week, meaning all 78 will get a full four rounds to vie for the win. With everyone in it for the long haul, the more established players should have an advantage — they’ll have time to recover on the weekend, even if they make a mess of the first two rounds. Conversely, there’s more pressure on the lesser players to play consistently, as one bad weekend round can spell a last-place finish.
While the field isn’t the largest, it makes up for its size by featuring a number of big names. The list of notable players making their first start of the season this week includes Sergio Garcia, Adam Scott, Patrick Reed and Hideki Matsuyama, among others.
Without further ado, let’s dive right in. Here are the ten best bets for success at the CIMB Classic.
