European Tour Power Rankings: ISPS Handa World Super 6 Perth
Louis Oosthuizen
The lone major champion in the field comes in the form of Lodewicus Theodorus “Louis” Oosthuizen. To go with his Open Championship triumph in 2010, the 34-year-old South African also calls himself a winner in Perth. He won the 2016 edition at -16 under by one stroke over Alexander Levy. Oosthuizen was under par in all four rounds and came within one in round two of matching Retief Goosen’s course record of 63.
A knock on the sweet-swinging Oosthuizen is his inconsistency. He was quiet for a time after his romp at St. Andrews in 2010, but he’s been a model of consistency over the past year or so. Oosthuizen made 12 cuts in a row entering the World Super 6 Perth, finishing T45 or better in all. He placed third in his most recent start at the PGA Tour’s Phoenix Open two weeks ago.
Finally, Oosthuizen’s had success in head-to-head formats. He was knocked off only by Jason Day to finish second at the 2016 WGC Match play. He’s also competed on the last two Presidents Cup teams and at No. 25 in the world is all but a lock to be at Liberty National for this year’s edition.
