PGA Tour Fantasy Picks: WGC-Mexico Championship
By Sam Belden
This week’s World Golf Championship event has a new home just outside of Mexico City. How will the PGA Tour’s top players respond to the change?
The winds of change are constantly blowing through the PGA Tour, and this season is no different. What was once the Florida swing has been modified to include the WGC-Mexico Championship, the latest iteration of what was once the circuit’s annual stop in Miami. The host course, Club de Golf Chapultepec, is a new one to the PGA Tour, so there should be a lot to take in this week.
While we’ve already witnessed one reduced field event this year in the SBS Tournament of Champions, this week’s is the first World Golf Championship event of 2017, meaning that the field will be roughly half the size of a standard tournament’s. For fantasy managers, this is a somewhat limiting detail when it comes to lineup construction. As always, you’ll have to work that much harder to differentiate your lineup from the crowd, so get cracking.
You might notice that my featured picks for this week are a little unbalanced — while two of them are among the elite players in the world, the other three are the kind of cost-effective plays needed to support a front loaded lineup. Without further ado, let’s go through the list. As always, each player’s DraftKings salary is listed next to his name.
