PGA Tour Power Rankings: Arnold Palmer Invitational
By Sam Belden
Jason Day — 98th
Although Day has found the top 15 in two of his four starts this year, one of those came at the SBS Tournament of Champions, an event that featured just 31 of his peers. However, the other one was a tie for fifth at the highly competitive Genesis Open, where he capitalized on his length and took care of business out of the bunkers despite not having his A-game. He did withdraw from the WGC-Mexico Championship a few days before his tee time, but the good news is that his cited reasons, flu-like symptoms along with a double ear infection, won’t affect his swing.
The world No. 2 has yet to establish himself as a consistent contender at Bay Hill, but his remarkable performance from last year should give him a confidence boost as he returns from illness. He’s not a lock for success, but I’m looking for a well-rested Day to turn in a nice showing this week.
