September 27, 2016, Jordan Spieth:

"I did have the opportunity to meet him. I’ve had dinner with him. … I first met him on the Wednesday evening prior to the 2014 Masters, my first Masters. I went to the Members kind of cocktail reception they have outside the front of the clubhouse — the back of the clubhouse, and he was standing with Mr. Nicklaus, and I was pretty nervous — I was actually more nervous there than I was on the first tee hitting my first shot at the Masters; to walk up and just introduce myself and say hello."

Spieth would have been a 20-year PGA Tour rookie when he stumbled into The King at that Wednesday evening cocktail party at Augusta National. No matter that he’d put PGA Tour Rookie of the Year awards on his resume, or that he was ranked 10th on the Tour’s money list and 22nd in the OWGR. It was his 1st Masters and he showed what he’s made of before he ever got to the 1st tee.
