Rafa Cabrera-Bello

OWGR: 25th

Odds: 125/1

This Spaniard has made just 14 major starts in his 12-year-old professional career, but only one of those was at Augusta National, making him something of an enigma as we prepare for the big event. However, with a strong all-around game and a level head that seldom caves to the pressure, Cabrera-Bello should have a surprisingly good chance to pull off a Masters victory this year.

At last fall’s Ryder Cup, Cabrera-Bello looked as comfortable as anyone under one of the game’s most intense spotlights. With a little help from playing partner Sergio Garcia, he earned 2.5 points for the Europeans and was the only member of his team to avoid losing a single match on the week. He managed to keep up that pace in the new year, picking up four top 20 finishes in just seven events. What’s more, he was plenty productive in his Masters debut last year, closing with a Sunday 70 to wind up in a tie for 17th.

Cabrera-Bello may not be the flashiest player out there, but history tells us that showiness is no prerequisite for success at Augusta. He has a real shot to join Seve Ballesteros and Jose Maria Olazabal as Spaniards who have slipped on a green jacket.
