Bernd Wiesberger

OWGR: 38th

Odds: 200/1

A member of the final pairing on Sunday at the 2014 PGA Championship, Wiesberger has had his major moments in the past, but he’s yet to nab one of the big four. That could change at this year’s Masters, however — despite a lack of name recognition in the States, this Austrian has enough firepower to pull off a surprise victory at Augusta.

In just two career starts, Wiesberger has compiled a surprisingly solid record at the Masters — he’s two-for-two with a pair of top 35s, including a tie for 22nd in his debut back in 2015. In that year, he recovered with three straight under-par rounds after an opening 75, pretty good for a newcomer to Augusta. With five career victories across the European and Asian Tours, Wiesberger has taken down some decent fields over the past few years, and with a tie for fourth in Abu Dhabi and a solo third in Malaysia ranking among his most recent finishes, his form is just fine.

Austria has never had a major champion, but given Wiesberger’s impressive resume, this year’s Masters could be the country’s best chance yet. He won’t draw the biggest crowds, but that doesn’t mean you should sleep on him.
