Danny Willett was the man of the moment at last year’s Masters. Who will follow in his footsteps this week?

It’s been a long winter for golf fans, but the arrival of April can only mean one thing: the Masters is just around the corner. This year’s event kicks off on Thursday, and with so many big names finding the winner’s circle throughout the first few months of this season, we should be in store for some compelling action this week.

While the Masters is likely the most prestigious event in all of golf, it certainly doesn’t have the strongest field — that distinction probably belongs to either the Players Championship (which invites most to all of the PGA Tour standard bearers) or the PGA Championship (which customarily invites everyone in the world’s top 100).

With just 94 names in the field as of Sunday night, many of them prominent amateurs and former champions, there actually aren’t that many players who look poised for success this week, so in theory, a Masters win should be less impressive than a victory at the PGA.

Of course, there’s more to a golf tournament than strength of field, and with a green jacket on the line, you should expect to see a ton of players bring their A-games this week.

Without further ado, let’s get to my rankings. Each player’s current spot on the FedEx Cup points list is shown next to his name.
